The hike from Faralya to Kabak on the Lycian Way is called the coastal route because it is an alternative route and not apart of the official Lycian Way.

Read about my experience hiking this section here.

Check out my itinerary for hiking in this section.

I have only ever hike the coastal route as it is beautiful and definitely should not be missed. If you’d like to stay on the official Lycian Way, you will have to follow an alternative path.

A map of the Lycian Way route from Ovacik to Kabak

Total Distance: 5km

Faralya: is the small village above Butterfly Valley(you cannot reach butterfly valley from here)

Kabak: a charming town with lots of bungalows, airbnbs, recreation, restaurants, bars, and a beach

It is possible to drive to Faralya, or take a dolmus or taxi, if you want to start your hike from Fayalya.

If you’ve camped here and want to reach Kabak, you will go to the road above the campsite and hike on the left side of the valley. The trail is easy to find but if you are confused there will be many people you can follow or ask for guidance.

The hike to Kabak is very beautiful and you will pass through the town of Uzunyurt. You will exit the trail onto a beach that is under construction. There are many beach hotels here so walking on the sand is not possible. If you want to access the town, you must go on a steep road up the hill and onto the main road. Here there will be a general store (Yigitolu Market) and a great restaurant with a gorgeous view. I recommend coming to this restaurant if you have time to kill and want to enjoy a great view. You can also take a minibus or taxi to Kabak from this town.

There is no wild camping in Uzunyurt, but there are beach camping places, hotels, and airbnbs. If you want to stay the night you must book ahead as this town is a popular destination for tourists.

You will keep walking south following the coastline to reach the second half of the trail to Kabak. It’s very possible to wild camp on this section of the trail. I’ve camped here before just because it’s so beautiful in this section!

My wild camp spot on the trail to Kabak!

Kabak is an absolutely amazing town and I definitely reccommend getting a bungalow, hotel, airbnb, or camping place here. There are typically a lot of available spots so you do not need to book ahead. Rather you can walk through the town and pick your favorite place.

If you wish to camp for free, the only option is to sleep on the beach without a tent. There are no tents allowed on the beach, this is a strict policy, but they will let you sleep with your mats.

On the beach level there are many fun camping places with amazing food, showers, and nightlife. I highly recommend Natural Life camping. If you walk up the mountain, there are many bungalows that offer incredible views of the sea, but it will be a walk up and downhill to reach the beach.

Kabak is a town where its easy to spend a few days relaxing and recharging. There is so much to do including hiking, waterfalls, and kayaking.
